Studying in a Vibrant Academic Community

With its vibrant academic community, its students from all over the world, and its unique campus that is scattered around a baroque palace, the Schloss, the Department of Law of the University of Mannheim offers an excellent environment for law students.

In Germany and Europe, the University of Mannheim is recognized as one of the leading higher education institutions. The Department of Law plays a major role as a research facility looking at business and economic law in a national, European, and international context. Our courses are taught by 23 professors as well as outstanding practicing lawyers and a select group of visiting scholars from around the globe, who are keen on sharing their experience and knowledge with you. Facilitating a demanding, yet rewarding intellectual exchange on the key challenges of today and tomorrow is our mission.

The Department offers a diverse and ever-increasing range of courses you can choose from. Whereas most of our courses, especially from our undergraduate program, are taught in German, we also offer courses in English. They mainly form part of the Master of Comparative Business Law program offered in cooperation with the University of Adelaide.

The faculty and students at the Department of Law are supported by excellent staff. Furthermore, they have access to additional services and resources, such as the Department’s own library with its large collection of both print works and digital media. As an international student coming to Mannheim, you will receive comprehensive support to help you feel quickly at home and be off to a good start in your abroad semester. We are looking forward to welcoming you to the sunny Palatinate region very soon!

Yours sincerely,

Prof. Oliver Brand
