Research at the Department of Law

Researchers from Mannheim actively contribute to international conferences. Moreover, the UN as well as the German Ethics Council and other committees hold their specialist knowledge in high esteem. Our prolific legal scholars have published numerous articles in renowned journals and commentaries. Not only have they earned public appreciation for their excellent work, but they also draw accolades from the University of Mannheim’s own ranks.

Research and teaching – two sides of the same coin

As research and teaching activities at the University of Mannheim are closely intertwined, students also reap the benefits from the progress our researchers make. Their primary fields of research are reflected in the integrated program in Law (LL.B. / state examination) with its focus on business and economic law as well as in the subjects taught in the three master's programs offered by the Department. The fact that students at the Department of Law are very happy with their studies, as confirmed by the CHE University Ranking in 2017, testifies to this strong link.

In the classroom, professors and teachers draw on the results from research conducted, for example, at the Institute for Corporate Law (IURUM), the Institute for German, European and International Medical Law, Public Health Law and Bioethics (IMGB), the Institute of Insurance Sciences, and the research facilities that are managed together with other schools and institutions.
